The Customer Demand Analyst analyzes and manages customer demand for assigned accounts or programs to support accurate forecasting, supply alignment, and customer satisfaction. This role interfaces between customers and internal stakeholders by translating customer demand signals, forecasts, and ERP data into actionable insights. The Customer Demand Analyst develops a deep understanding of customer demand behaviour and customer ERP system processes. This position interacts between customer systems, order management systems, and planning systems. The Customer Demand Analyst is customer-facing, maintaining demand stability, identifying risks, and supporting operational decision-making.

What To Expect (Essential Job Responsibilities)

  • Analyse customer demand trends using historical data, forecasts, backlog, schedules, and market indicators.
  • Support the development and maintenance of customer forecasts at product, program, and account levels.
  • Monitor forecast accuracy and demand variability, identifying root causes of deviations between forecasted and actual demand.
  • Identify emerging demand risks, sudden volume changes, end-of-life signals, and ramp-up activity, and communicate findings proactively.
  • Serve as the demand planning point of contact for assigned customer programs or accounts.
  • Support regular customer forecast reviews and demand alignment meetings.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Account Management to understand customer strategies, design cycles, and program milestones affecting demand.
  • Ensure customer demand assumptions and constraints are clearly documented and understood internally.
  • Develop working knowledge of customer ERP systems as they relate to forecasts, purchase orders, schedules, and demand signals.
  • Understand and support data flow between customer ERP platforms and the company’s order management and planning systems.
  • Identify and help resolve demand-related system issues such as order discrepancies, forecast upload errors, or configuration mismatches.
  • Partner with internal IT, planning, and operations teams to improve data quality and system effectiveness.

Miscellaneous Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Supply Planning, Operations, Logistics, and Finance to align customer demand with supply capabilities.
  • Provide customer-specific demand inputs to Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) or Integrated Business Planning (IBP) processes.
  • Support scenario analysis related to demand changes, capacity constraints, and supply risks.
  • Prepare and maintain demand reports and dashboards showing trends, forecast accuracy, backlog, and customer order behaviour.
  • Communicate complex demand data clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Escalate demand risks and opportunities with clear recommendations and supporting analysis.

What Is Required (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and direct professional experience (7-10 years) in demand planning, demand analysis, customer supply chain, or related roles.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics) and order management platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar) preferred.
  • Understanding of demand forecasting principles and supply chain fundamentals.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including customer-facing interaction.

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience supporting named customer accounts or programs in a manufacturing or high-tech environment.
  • Familiarity with EDI, customer forecast collaboration tools, or system-to-system integrations.
  • Experience participating in S&OP or IBP processes.
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or equivalent.

Other California Salary depending on location:

Minimum Salary: $58,605 Maximum Salary: $85,929
