At Muntons, we’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our maltings team at our Stowmarket site, where you’ll play a crucial role in.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role you will operate the plant and equipment used for malt despatch and malt movements whilst working in compliance with Company policy on health & safety, food safety, environmental issues, and other relevant standards as applicable.

You will also be responsible for maintaining the plant hygiene levels, records and cleaning schedules.

Key tasks

  • To carry out the transfer of malt between silos.
  • To carry out all necessary checks quality procedures to ensure the suitability of shipping containers and vehicles for the loading of malt.
  • To fill multiple 20’and/or 40’ shipping containers with malt for overseas customers.
  • To fill bulk vehicles with malt for shipment to UK customers.
  • To carry out plant cleaning as detailed in hygiene schedules or as requested.
  • To assist in ensuring continued compliance with current standards and to work with the team towards the achievement of any new standard required.
  • To assist other departments as requested.

  • Basic understanding of plant across the site.
  • Understand site priorities for tasks to minimise downtime and maintain quality.
  • Competent in basic operational tasks, transfers, hygiene, plant equipment and standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Fully understand paperwork and sign off as required.
  • Understands and follows all site Health & Safety rules and hygiene standards, considering themselves and others.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a team.
  • A flexible approach to a range of tasks and work situations.
  • To contribute to the overall effectiveness, compliance, and efficiency of the operations of the site.
  • To be open, honest, and professional and do the right thing the right way for the company.
  • To communicate all relevant information in a professional manner.
  • Takes pride in their work, not losing sight of the big picture.
  • Has enthusiasm and commitment, is reliable and dependable.
  • Agree and execute the KPI’s set by the line manager.
  • Willing and able to use plant operating systems.
  • Participates in training and provides support to new team members to help them integrate into the team.
  • Contactable out of hours by agreement.
