Summary
As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.
Annual wage - £22,000 a year. The pay may be negotiated and may rise after a probation period has been successfully completed.
Training course - Process industry manufacturing technician.
Hours - Monday to Friday, with occasional flexible hours for a 12 hour Panama shift (6am–6pm / 6pm–6am). 37.5 hours a week.
Start date - Saturday 1 August 2026.
Duration - 36 Months. Positions available - 1.
- What you’ll do at work
- Learn how production processes operate from raw material intake through to finished product.
- Assist with operating plant and equipment in line with standard operating procedures and work instructions.
- Monitor processes and equipment, identifying abnormal conditions and escalating issues appropriately.
- Support quality checks, sampling and completion of production and quality documentation.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and housekeeping in line with site requirements.
- Work safely at all times, following health & safety procedures, risk assessments and permit systems.
- Develop an understanding of basic process control systems and data recording.
- Participate fully in planned maintenance, cleaning and inspection activities.
- Complete all apprenticeship learning, assessments and development activities.

- Review instructions or information to understand the task.
- Plan tasks. Identify and organise resources with consideration for safety, environmental impact, quality, and cost.
- Identify hazards and risks in the workplace and personal safety and mitigation measures.
- Apply health, safety, and environmental procedures in compliance with regulations, standards, and guidance.
- Follow environment emergency procedures and sustainability principles (e. g., minimising waste).
- Apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) and check equipment.
- Select, check, and prepare raw materials for process (weighing, measuring, control and blending, conditioning, dissolving, sanitisation).
- Set and adjust processing parameters (temperature, pressure, speed, time).
- Monitor process and conduct walk-arounds; control product streams to maintain specifics.
- Apply quality assurance procedures and take samples for laboratory testing.
- Post-manufacturing procedures (labelling, packing, storage, visual inspection, discharge).
- Manage waste streams and clean equipment (CIP, SIP, etc.).
- Conduct calculations (tare weight, yield, etc.).
- Store tools and equipment and identify equipment for handover.
- Apply signage and access restriction measures; shut down and isolate process and systems; complete isolation checks.
- Prepare for startup, startup plant and equipment, restart process.
- Record or enter information (paper or electronic) and interpret data; read drawings and graphs.
- Identify issues (defects, deviations, maintenance requirements) and escalate as needed.
- Apply problem solving and fault-finding techniques; apply continuous improvement techniques.
- Use information and digital technology responsibly for management information systems, HMI, documents, emails, and learning platforms; comply with cyber security requirements.
- Produce written documents (handover notes, non-conformances, design change requests) and communicate with others verbally; apply team working principles.
