The Motor Vehicle Division’s (MVD) mission is to identify and promote efficient, cost-effective programs that benefit the interests, safety, and well-being of Montana citizens. This occurs through licensing, registering, and regulating the motoring activities of the public. MVD is a critical statewide division responsible to the citizens of Montana. Dedicated staff are committed to public safety through their service, teamwork, and innovation. MVD has offices across the state, as well as over 60 partner locations. MVD continually strives to provide responsive and reliable services for a growing population and with an eye toward the future.

A Driver Examiner is a public-facing, customer-service driven position. Duties include:

  • Greeting customers and answering inquiries
  • Issuing ID cards, driver’s licenses, and commercial driver’s licenses
  • Overseeing the testing of driver’s licenses
  • Ensuring compliance with identification document requirements
  • Maintaining accuracy and integrity of data using software systems
  • Working outdoors in inclement weather and travelling to other exam stations as required

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year experience working with computerized data systems
  • One year customer service experience
  • One year of cash handling experience
  • Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) for testing and training purposes within the first year
  • Other combinations of education and experience considered on a case-by-case basis
