We are currently recruiting for an experienced Setting Out Engineer / Site Engineer for a 6-month project based in High Wycombe. This role will involve a mixture of setting out, surveying, quality checks, and coordination duties across concrete frame and structural works. The successful candidate must be confident working independently from day one, as this is a fast-paced project with limited capacity for training or supervision. We are specifically looking for someone with strong experience in concrete frame/formwork projects and above-ground structural works, rather than candidates with only groundworks experience.
Duties
- Setting out for various structural and concrete frame elements across the project
- Checking levels to ensure works are completed accurately and to specification
- Checking plumbness and alignment of structural elements
- Inspecting concrete works and ensuring quality standards are maintained
- Producing NCR reports (Non-Conformance Reports) where required
- Reviewing and overlaying drawings in DWG and PDF formats to identify discrepancies
- Coordinating works with subcontractors and other engineers on site
- Setting up and maintaining local control stations using retro targets (supplied)
- Carrying out quality assurance checks and ensuring project tolerances are met
- Reporting progress, technical issues, and site concerns to management
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Setting Out Engineer / Site Engineer
- Strong experience working on concrete frame/formwork projects
- Must have experience working on above-ground structures and upper levels
- Strong understanding of levels, datum points, plumbness, and site control
- Experience producing NCR reports and carrying out QA checks
- Competent using Total Stations and surveying equipment independently
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings in DWG and PDF formats
- AutoCAD experience and/or certification preferred
- Own surveying equipment/tools preferred
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Valid CSCS Card – Academically Qualified
- Right to work in the UK
