Mission

Every month, drones injure and kill thousands of Ukrainians. Munin builds point-defense systems to stop them. Our first product is a hand-launched micro-missile designed to intercept small drones at close range. It is small enough to carry three in a vest and cheap enough for mass deployment. Our goal is to change the battlefield in Ukraine through very high-volume production, then deliver proven systems to NATO.

Role summary

We are hiring a founding mechanical engineer. You will take over from the CEO as the primary hardware engineer with end-to-end ownership of all mechanical systems. You will start in the English countryside, living with the team of 6 next to our workshop and test site. After a few months, you will relocate to Kyiv to work directly with the Ukrainian military and scale production using front-line feedback. You will not operate near front-line areas, and you will work from Ukraine only while the security situation remains stable.

What you will do

  • Iterate on missiles and launchers, including actuation, human interfaces, safety systems, and warheads
  • Build new systems from concept through production
  • Test hardware aggressively
  • Work closely with computer vision, electronics, and controls engineers
  • Scale the mechanical team

Requirements

  • Significant hands-on experience building mechanical systems
  • You’ve shipped physical systems under time pressure
  • Strong CAD and 3D printing skills
  • High personal drive and tolerance for long, intense work periods
  • Comfortable owning ambiguous problems end-to-end without much supervision

Nice to have

  • Startup experience
  • Experience with DFM, electronics, firmware, aerodynamics, or computer vision
  • Serious personal engineering projects outside work or university
  • Military background

Credibility

In four months, we went from concept to a robust missile prototype that is smaller and cheaper than any missile, can be fired with one hand, and reliably intercepts FPV drones. Recent work includes:

  • Working with the Ukrainian armed forces to go from pre-idea to warhead design, production, and live-fire testing in 24 hours
  • Car-mounted missile testing at 200 km/h
  • Building an air cannon in two days, then destructively testing 50 missiles to diagnose a hardware issue
  • Six launches in a single day, with design iterations between each launch

Apply

Our team is from the Special Forces, Stanford, 1X, Imperial College, FLIR, student engineering teams and non-traditional paths. What we share is the ability to build real systems fast, take ownership and work toward a safer Europe. If you want to build something that matters, fill out this form:
