Engineering Intern

Engineering Intern

Full-Time On-site
M

Every month, small drones cause thousands of casualties in Ukraine. Munin builds point-defence systems to stop that. Our first product is a hand-launched interceptor that defends against small drones at close range. It is small enough to carry three in a vest and cheap enough for mass deployment. Our goal is to protect people in Ukraine through high-volume production, then deliver proven systems to NATO.

The internship

We are accepting engineering interns on a rolling basis, with the aim of evaluating for a full-time role after the internship. You will be based in the UK and work alongside our engineering team. Some interns may also spend time with our team in Kyiv. This only happens while the security situation is stable. You will not operate near front-line areas.

You should have experience with any of the following:

  • Mechanical engineering
  • Controls
  • Software engineering (especially computer vision)
  • Building drones or other uncrewed vehicles

And you should be:

  • Comfortable building fast and getting your hands dirty
  • Driven by impact and mission

Nice to have

  • Serious engineering projects outside work or university (student teams, personal builds)
  • Startup or fast-paced R&D experience
  • Military background

What you will work on

Responsibilities are matched to project needs and your skills. Previous interns have:

  • Built a pneumatic test rig in two days and used it to debug one of our biggest hardware issues
  • Written key features of our guidance algorithms
  • Implemented new sensors for better testing
  • Set up and run flight tests

This isn't a research role. We fly real systems fast. Our record is six flight tests in a day, with design iterations between each one.

Track record

Our work is almost entirely funded by the Norwegian, British and Ukrainian Ministries of Defence. In four months, we went from concept to a robust prototype that is smaller and cheaper than anything comparable. It can be launched with one hand and reliably intercepts FPV drones.

Team

Our team of engineers and operators comes from the Special Forces, Stanford, Imperial, 1X, FLIR and Formula 1, as well as student engineering teams and non-traditional paths. What we share is the ability to build real systems fast, take ownership and work toward a safer Europe.
