About the Role
Reporting to the Manager of Wastewater Treatment, this position is responsible for maintaining and operating all process control and other related equipment in the operation of the Municipality’s Wastewater Plants and related pumping stations in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring legislative compliance and public safety. This position is also responsible for collecting samples in conjunction with the Sewer Use By‑law. This position will participate in an on‑call rotation and will be required to drive to various locations in Colchester County.
Salary
Salary Range: £31.29 – £35.66 per hour, based on 40 hours per week, plus standby pay. This is a permanent full‑time unionized position.

Education & Experience Required
- Minimum two years post‑secondary education in a field such as Environmental Engineering Technology—Water Resources, Environmental Tech, and/or a Biology, Science, or Chemistry Program.
- Laboratory experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics and chemistry to complete calculations regarding chemicals and process.
- Ability to respond to emergency call‑outs and be on‑call.
- Ability to earn and maintain a valid Wastewater Treatment Operator’s Certificate at the appropriate level.
- Have a valid Nova Scotia Driver’s License, and can produce a satisfactory driver’s abstract and criminal record check.
