Accounts Payable/Tax Clerk

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role supports the Finance Department in the efficient processing of accounts payable in accordance with corporate policies.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Receive, distribute, and match paper and electronic invoices to packing slips, purchase orders, and receipts; prepare invoices for data entry, check extensions, tax calculations, and codes; assign vendor and account numbers; obtain departmental approval; ensure timely payment; resolve discrepancies with vendors.
  • Review accounts payable batches for accuracy in vendor assignments, tax handling, payable amounts, and supporting documentation; guard against double payments; resolve discrepancies.
  • Process approved invoices for weekly cheque run; enter data; resolve system error reports; print and mail/distribute cheques; prepare summary and balance reports; post to accounts payable sub‑ledger and General Ledger; prepare electronic funds transfers.
  • Review staff travel claims, purchasing/credit card reconciliations, and supporting documentation; identify potentially fraudulent transactions; check accuracy in tax handling; prepare and post entry batches into the accounting system; resolve discrepancies with department or employee.
  • Answer inquiries of suppliers and department staff regarding invoices and balances. Act as a customer service representative at the counter for payments and inquiries.

Tax Collection

  • Assist residents with tax enquiries, prepare tax statements and 357/358 applications.
  • Respond to inquiries from lawyers and mortgage companies.
  • Generate and distribute monthly Tax Arrears Notices.

Administration

  • Respond to public concerns, complaints, questions, suggestions, and inquiries.
  • Respond to telephone and counter inquiries, provide information, and redirect calls.
  • Assist with municipal communications, including website maintenance and creation of news items and social media posts.

Qualifications

  • Post‑secondary education degree or diploma in Accounting/Business.
  • One to three years’ experience working in Accounts Payable is an asset.
  • Municipal Accounting, Finance and Tax Administration experience is beneficial.
  • Ability to be flexible to changing demands while maintaining accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Cooperative teamwork and collaboration.
  • Proficiency in computer applications (Microsoft Office, Keystone Complete, web browsers).

Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE)

This full‑time position provides a range of daycare services to children from the ages of 18 months to 12 years.

Your Role

  • Plan and implement age‑appropriate training programmes, including songs, stories, discussions, crafts and calendar activities.
  • Teach gross motor skills, dramatic play, use of senses, and science.
  • Supervise children in various settings such as outdoors, classroom, and sleep room.
  • Provide toilet training and teach proper hygiene.
  • Encourage participation, cooperative play, problem solving, sharing, and safety learning.
  • Work with a resource consultant to develop and implement special‑needs programming.
  • Assist with planning and organizing special events, field trips, and parties.
  • Compose and type monthly newsletter items.
  • Provide regular feedback to parents regarding their child’s progress.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalency.
  • Registered member of the College of ECE.
  • Two years’ experience in the childcare field is an asset.

Supply/Casual Teacher (RECE or Non‑RECE)

Full‑time childcare services for children aged 18 months to 12 years. Both Registered Early Childhood Educators and non‑REGs are encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teach gross motor skills, dramatic play, use of senses, and science.
  • Supervise children in various settings.
  • Encourage cooperative play, problem solving, sharing, and safety learning.
  • Integrate special‑needs programming with the regular program.
  • Plan and organize special events, field trips, and parties.
  • Assist children with hygiene activities.
  • Respond to telephone enquiries, give information, and take messages.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Early Childhood Education diploma or equivalency (asset).
  • Registered member of the College of ECE (asset).
  • Experience in the childcare field.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • Ability to follow direction and work independently.
  • Valid First Aid/CPR.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

Hours of Work

  • Flexible schedule including early mornings and day shifts; hours subject to center demands.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Casual/part‑time hours.
  • Non‑RECE: $19.50 – $20.50 per hour plus Pay Equity and $2 per hour Wage Enhancement Grant.
