The Municipality of Brockton is a friendly rural community in the rolling countryside of the Saugeen and Teeswater Rivers. It offers a full‑service environment with schools, childcare, a hospital, community centres and a wide array of recreational activities.

Fire and Rescue Service (Walkerton Fire Department) The Service offers volunteer and paid positions focused on fire protection, rescue, inspections, and public safety education.

  • Respond to suppression and emergency call‑outs according to SOPs, including extreme weather.
  • Perform duties on scene such as SCBA use, hydraulic tool operation, ladder climbing, equipment maintenance, medical assistance, and teamwork.
  • Attend required training (minimum 80 %) and obtain NFPA certifications.
  • Perform hall duties: washing trucks, gear maintenance, monthly/annual inspections.
  • Support fire prevention initiatives: smoke alarm education, public events, school visits.

Qualifications: high‑school diploma (post‑secondary in related field an asset); NFPA 1001 levels, legislation knowledge, communication skills, discretion, valid MTO Class DZ driver’s license or willingness to obtain; satisfactory police record; First Aid/CPR/AED Level C or willingness to obtain.

Benefits: hourly pay $24.05 plus honorarium, OMERS pension plan, insurance for volunteer departments, training opportunities, Employee Family Assistance Plan.
