Facilities and Parks Operator
The Municipality of Brockton is seeking a part‑time Facilities and Parks Operator responsible for performing maintenance and operational duties for municipal facilities and lands.
- Primary Responsibilities
- Performs required ice maintenance such as ice resurfacing, edging, ice depth checks and other tasks following departmental procedures and ORFA Best Practices.
- Assists with ice making, painting and ice removal.
- Conducts required refrigeration plant readings, documentation and assists with regular plant maintenance.
- Assists in maintaining the Centennial Park Pool.
- Performs maintenance of parkland, sports fields, trails and ball diamonds.
- Operates lawn mowers, tractors, weed trimmers, blowers, chainsaw and brush chippers.
- Assists with horticultural duties as assigned.
- Repairs and maintains all related equipment.
- Assists with turf maintenance and repair.
- Provides positive and professional customer service to facility patrons and organizations.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills Required
- Successfully completed O. S. S. D. (grade 12) or equivalent.
- Willingness to obtain professional development courses, workshops, certificates or designations from provincially recognized associations such as Ontario Recreation Facilities Association, Parks Recreation Ontario and Ontario Parks Association.
- Related experience in recreation in a municipal environment with knowledge of facilities, arenas, pools, parks, sports fields, trails, related equipment and operations.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Superior customer service skills.
- Willingness to obtain a valid Basic Refrigeration Certificate.
- Willingness to obtain Chainsaw Operators Certificate.
- Willingness to obtain Safe Propane Handling Certification.
- Willingness to obtain Working at Heights Certification.
- Willingness to obtain a valid NSPF® Certified Pool/Spa Operator® Certificate.
- Valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
- Valid Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing.
What We Offer You
- Hourly rate between $25.77 - $30.14 depending on qualifications and experience.
- Hours for April through October – up to 40 hours per week.
- Hours for November through March – approximately 24-32 hours per week.

- Summer Parks Maintainer
The Summer Parks Maintainer assists with the maintenance of Brockton’s parks, sports fields, trails and Community Centre, reporting to the Facilities and Parks Supervisor.
- Primary Responsibilities
- Maintenance of Brockton’s sports fields, parks, trails and Community Centre.
- Horticultural related tasks including planting, watering, weeding gardens and hanging baskets.
- General custodial duties within park facilities including maintenance of public washroom facilities and emptying garbage bins.
- Safe and efficient operation/maintenance of Parks equipment including lawn mowers, gas trimmers, hand tools, utility tractors and automobiles.
- Assist with the set up and tear down of events hosted at Brockton facilities.
- Customer service at Lobies Campground and Visitor Information Centre in Lobies Park.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills Required
- Previous experience in landscaping or horticulture is considered an asset.
- Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suites.
- Current or ability to obtain Standard First Aid & CPR C/AED.
- Valid Driver’s License in good standing.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Security Check.

- Supply/Casual Teacher
The Supply/Casual Teacher provides a full range of daycare services to children from 18 months to 12 years of age at the Brockton Child Care Centre.
- Primary Responsibilities
- Teaches gross motor skills, dramatic play, use of senses and science.
- Supervises children in a variety of settings such as outdoors, in the classroom and in the sleep room.
- Encourages children to participate, play cooperatively, problem solve, share and learn about safety.
- Integrates special‑needs programs with the regular program.
- Assists with planning and organizing special events, field trips and parties.
- Assists children with hygiene activities.
- Responds to telephone enquiries, giving out information and taking messages.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Knowledge / Skills Required
- Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalency is an asset.
- Registered member of the College of ECE is an asset.
- Experience in the child care field.
- Good communication skills, verbal and written.
- Ability to follow direction and work independently.
- Valid First aid/CPR.
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

Flexible schedule including early mornings and day shifts with no guarantee of hours, subject to centre demands.
