About The Position: The Municipality of Brockton invites qualified applicants for the part-time position of Facilities and Parks Operator. Committed to exceptional customer service, this position is responsible for performing maintenance and operational duties for Municipal facilities and lands. The ideal candidate will have parks and facility experience, be outgoing, self-starter, flexible and exhibit superior time management capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities:- Performs required ice maintenance such as: ice resurfacing, edging, ice depth checks and other ice maintenance tasks following departmental procedures and ORFA Best Practices.
- Assists with ice making, painting and ice removal.
- Conducts required refrigeration plant readings, documentation and assists with regular plant maintenance.
- Assists in maintaining the Centennial Park Pool.
- Performs maintenance of parkland, sports fields, trails and ball diamonds.
- Operates lawn mowers, tractors, weed trimmers, blowers, chainsaw and brush chippers.
- Assists with horticultural duties as assigned.
- Repairs and maintains all related equipment.
- Assists with turf maintenance and repair.
- Provides positive and professional customer service to facility patrons and organizations.
- Successfully completed O.S.S.D. (grade 12) or equivalent required.
- Possess or willingness to obtain professional development courses, workshops, certificates or designations from provincially recognized associations such as Ontario Recreation Facilities Association, Parks Recreation Ontario and Ontario Parks Association is an asset.
- Related experience in recreation in a municipal environment with knowledge of facilities, arenas, pools, parks, sports fields, trails, related equipment and operations is an asset.
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Superior Customer Service skills.
- Possess or willingness to obtain a valid Basic Refrigeration Certificate.
- Possess or willingness to obtain Chainsaw Operators Certificate.
- Possess or willingness to obtain Safe Propane Handling Certification.
- Possess or willingness to obtain Working at Heights Certification.
- Possess or willingness to obtain a valid NSPF® Certified Pool/Spa Operator® Certificate.
- Possess a valid First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate.
- Possess a valid Class “G” Driver’s License in good standing.
- Hourly rate between $25.77 - $30.14 depending on qualifications and experience.
- Hours for April through October – up to 40 hours per week.
- Hours for November through March – approximately 24-32 hours per week.
- The successful candidate must be available to work variable shifts including early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- Eligible to enroll in OMERS pension plan.
