About The Position

The Operations Coordinator provides support to the Director of Operations and Operations department including road infrastructure, water/wastewater, solid waste and landfill functions and related GIS data.

The main function is to provide progressive and professional administrative assistance to ensure excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

This position will work with various members of the Senior Management team assisting the Director with coordination of project implementation, administrative activities related communications, health & safety, administration, procurement, policy, GIS and asset management coordination and strategic alignment.

This position will assist the Director of Operations & CFO with coordination of Cemetery administration & operations, and daily operational response and reporting.

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Administration
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for departmental inquiries, responding or escalating matters as appropriate.
  • Coordinates and administers procurement activities including RFQs, RFTs, RFPs, contracts, consultant agreements, electronic bidding, and procurement documentation in accordance with municipal policies, while providing procurement guidance and support to staff, consultants, and vendors.
  • Liaises with external stakeholders including legal firms, consultants, engineers, and agencies to coordinate documentation and information requests.
  • Assists with grant application data preparation, reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Supports departmental communications including website content, social media, public notices, newsletters, and media materials.
  • Coordinates staff training programs, departmental records management, and assists with the development of policies and procedures.
  • Administers payroll-related documentation and timesheet processing for Operations staff in collaboration with Payroll.
  • Operations & Data
  • Assists with Operations Department programs and initiatives including waste diversion, recycling, hazardous waste, civic numbering, and Adopt-a-Road programs.
  • Maintains public service notices including road closures, service disruptions, and municipal updates.
  • Provides backup support for landfill administration, including financial processing and reporting.
  • Tracks and reports waste diversion statistics, annual reports, and energy audit information.
  • Completes infrastructure locate requests through Ontario One Call for water and sewer services.
  • Supports GIS data management and asset management initiatives for the Operations Department.
  • Cemetery
  • Maintains and updates municipal cemetery records, databases, and documentation systems, including maintaining records and agreements for abandoned cemeteries.
  • Coordinates the sale of cemetery plots, cremation plots, and columbarium niches, including invoicing support.
  • Coordinates interments and grave openings with the Cemetery Caretaker.
  • Assists with genealogical and cemetery-related public inquiries and research requests.
  • Supports cemetery projects, research initiatives, by-law updates, and coordination with regulatory agencies and external organizations.
  • Prepares and distributes annual cemetery licensing documentation.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Post‑secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in municipal administration, operations, or public works is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Power Point, and Publisher, with experience using GIS software such as Arc GIS.
  • Experience with website maintenance, social media platforms, and municipal software systems (e. g., Keystone, File Hold) is considered an asset.
  • Project Management certification or related experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across departments and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to exercise tact, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive matters.
  • Knowledge of roles and responsibilities under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Self‑motivated, confident, and able to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work flexible hours outside normal business hours, as required.

Facilities and Parks Operator

The Municipality of Brockton invites qualified applicants for the part‑time position of Facilities and Parks Operator.

Committed to exceptional customer service, this position is responsible for performing maintenance and operational duties for Municipal facilities and lands.

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Performs required ice maintenance such as: ice resurfacing, edging, ice depth checks and other ice maintenance tasks following departmental procedures and ORFA Best Practices.
  • Assists with ice making, painting and ice removal.
  • Conducts required refrigeration plant readings, documentation and assists with regular plant maintenance.
  • Assists in maintaining the Centennial Park Pool.
  • Performs maintenance of parkland, sports fields, trails and ball diamonds.
  • Operates lawn mowers, tractors, weed trimmers, blowers, chainsaw and brush chippers.
  • Assists with horticultural duties as assigned.
  • Repairs and maintains all related equipment.
  • Assists with turf maintenance and repair.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Successfully completed O. S. S. D. (grade 12) or equivalent required.
  • Possess or willingness to obtain professional development courses, workshops, certificates or designations from provincially recognized associations such as Ontario Recreation Facilities Association, Parks Recreation Ontario and Ontario Parks Association is an asset.
  • Related experience in recreation in a municipal environment with knowledge of facilities, arenas, pools, parks, sports fields, trails, related equipment and operations is an asset.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

Recreation Administrator

This position provides support to the Community Services Department by providing efficient administrative, financial and organizational support.

Candidates must have office administration experience, be a welcoming, out‑going, self‑starter that can be flexible and exhibit superior time‑management capabilities.

  • Primary Responsibilities
  • Performs general administrative duties related to Community Services/Recreation including but not limited to general data entry, records keeping, compiles statistical data, composes letters, emails, memos and forms.
  • Provides support to recreation program registration, summer camp registration and tourism.
  • Greets visitors and assists with responding to public inquiries regarding the Community Services Department.
  • Supports consistent front desk coverage, specifically while other office staff are absent.
  • Assists in developing layouts and production of advertisements, brochures, seasonal guides, promotions and posters for recreation programs, events and departmental projects.
  • Performs outreach, when necessary, to maintain community interest, support promotions and ultimately maintain relationships with community partners and organizations.
  • Develop and support community volunteers through relationship‑building and early‑stage planning of procedures and operational tasks, with guidance from the Recreation Supervisor.
  • Supports the department’s Sponsorship Programs.
  • Assists with the Community Services/Recreation department webpages and social media updates as assigned.
  • Assists with processing payment and revenue collection for program registration, admissions, facility bookings, and all other recreation service revenue using Recreation Management Software (Perfect Mind) and Keystone.
  • Responsibly handle money through supporting departmental deposits, as well as processing refunds and creating invoices when applicable.
  • Assists with set‑up and operation of community events and recreational programs as required.
  • Supports scheduling of the LED Score Clock.
  • Additional office and administrative support as required.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Education or experience in a related field including Marketing, Communications, Public Administration, Marketing, Tourism, Sports Management, etc. is considered an asset.
  • Excellent Communication (written, oral and interpersonal) skills.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills (teamwork, positive attitude, professionalism, tact and good judgement skills)
  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills and the capacity to multi‑task in a fast‑paced environment, responding with flexibility to changing priorities.

  • Flexible work hours that will fluctuate according to programming demands (anywhere from 10 – 20 hours per week). Some evening and weekend work may be required.
