The predicted salary is between 60000 - 75000 ÂŁ per year.

The role holder will be a manager within the Protection Pricing team. They will have line management responsibility and will be responsible for checking and reviewing the work of other colleagues within the team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Protection Pricing specialists, providing guidance, coaching and performance feedback.
  • Check, review and approve the work produced by team members, including protection quote delivery, data/biometric analysis, pricing assumptions and commercial term negotiation.
  • Support the delivery of protection quotations, client queries, treaty changes, monitoring of new and existing treaties and experience analysis for in‐force treaties.
  • Collaborate with the Basis Development team to review pricing assumptions and with the Infrastructure & Tools team to improve tools and processes.
  • Act as the key technical expert on pricing and biometric elements for the Protection business.
  • Advise the Head of Protection Pricing on planning, prioritisation, team direction and non‐technical topics such as people and culture.
  • Represent the team to senior management and other departments, communicating results and insights.
  • Build and maintain client‐focused relationships across the Protection department and broader network.
  • Drive efficiency initiatives in pricing tools and processes, embracing new technology where appropriate.
  • Support development and review of Protection basis and assumptions, and provide technical input for new protection propositions.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Actuary
  • Knowledge or experience of the UK Protection market
  • Experience managing or leading colleagues, providing feedback and supporting development
  • Knowledge of Protection pricing processes, including experience analysis, assumptions setting and modelling methodology
  • Prior pricing experience, particularly with reinsurance pricing, is preferable
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make judgment calls in uncertain situations
  • Excellent communication skills – able to convey technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of knowledge
  • Confidence and diplomacy to challenge peers and manage upwards
  • Ability to engage stakeholders across technical backgrounds and seniority levels
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, and familiarity with R, Python, VBA or similar; experience with Power BI desirable
  • Strong computer literacy and ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • Understanding of internal and external client strategy and needs
