About LH1: The responsibilities of this role will cover the Life & Health 1 (LH1) reinsurance division of Munich Re. LH1 is anchored around our three main hubs in Munich, Madrid and London; the role will be based in London. We operate in mature and highly competitive markets where medical progress, demographic change and shifting customer needs continuously reshape risk landscapes. This is further intensified by evolving regulation, accounting requirements and sustained competitive pressure, making it essential that we combine a clear strategy with a structure that enables disciplined execution across markets.

In LH1, our strategy is built on three complementary pillars: biometric (protection and health) solutions, longevity and retirement risk transfer, and reinsurance structuring and capital solutions. Each pillar contributes to sustainable performance, and we take an integrated view across the portfolio to balance growth, risk and long-term value creation.

About the role: How can we use our financial data to drive success of Life and Health under Ambition 2030? This is the key question driving the Strategic Finance and Regional Steering team within LH1. Our goal is to be true strategic partners to the LH1 business units, providing insights and analytics that empower the regional management team to make informed decisions and drive strategic initiatives within our region. The team is responsible for coordinating the regional aspects of financial steering and translating management reporting into actionable insights.

We are recruiting for a role to lead the regional finance project management hub and provide portfolio insights to support LH1 decision-making. The role will coordinate finance-led initiatives across systems and processes, support business case development and benefit tracking, and strengthen the enabling infrastructure used in management reporting and strategic discussions. Alongside this, the role will provide targeted performance insights on the LH1 in-force portfolio by linking results to key drivers and translating these into clear messages, and agreed actions.

  • Shape investment and prioritisation discussions by translating financial trade-offs, options and constraints into clear recommendations
  • Act as an extension of the regional finance leadership by providing decision support and scenario analysis, constructively challenging plans and forecasts
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across local finance teams (valuation, accounting, finance business partners) and business teams (pricing, client management) to ensure early alignment and clear communication of financial insights
  • Support coordination of consistent LH1 finance deliverables across reporting metrics and cycles (IFRS 17/9, Solvency II/VBM, management reporting from early indication to final results), aligning inputs, timelines and communications
