The Programme Manager is accountable for translating business strategy into tangible, compliant and sustainable delivery. The role is responsible for end‑to‑end programme leadership, including planning, execution, communication and delivery, working in close partnership with the Programme Sponsor, MRSG Executive Committee and any other key stakeholder groups, ensuring agreed outcomes, functional requirements and benefits are delivered within defined scope, time, cost and regulatory constraints.
Responsibilities:
- Role Accountabilities & Programme Ownership
- Own end-to-end accountability for the successful delivery of Programmes, including all agreed programme outcomes, milestones, benefits and deliverables.
- Maintain ownership of the overarching integrated Programme Plan, ensuring alignment across the target operating model, business case, regulatory requirements and implementation activities.
- Ensure the programme delivers a Day 1 compliant solution, while also capturing, prioritising and managing all out‑of‑scope or deferred functional requirements through a clearly governed roadmap for subsequent delivery phases.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership Collaboration
- Partner closely with the Programme Sponsor to provide clear insight, challenge where appropriate, and drive informed decision‑making across the programme lifecycle.
- Act as a trusted partner to the MRSG Executive Committee (ExCo), providing clear, timely and transparent updates on progress, risks, dependencies and decisions required.
- Work closely with the relevant functional Leadership Team, ensuring strong alignment between strategic objectives and local market needs.
- Lead engagement with senior stakeholders across MRSG, Global Markets, Great Lakes and Group functions, fostering strong collaboration and shared ownership of outcomes.
- Collaboration & Cross‑Functional Alignment
- Drive strong cross‑functional collaboration across Operations, Underwriting, Claims, Finance, IT, Legal, HR and Compliance to ensure all functional requirements are understood, agreed and delivered.
- Ensure all functional, regulatory and operational requirements are clearly documented, approved and traceable throughout the programme lifecycle.
- Actively manage interdependencies with the wider Change Portfolio, working with peer Programme and Project Managers to align plans, sequencing and resource demands.
- Programme Delivery & Governance
- Lead programme prioritisation, shaping, planning, execution and control, ensuring plans, budgets, risks, issues and dependencies are actively managed in line with portfolio governance.
- Work in close partnership with the Head of Change and Head of IT on resource planning, budget management and delivery trade‑offs.
- Ensure third‑party vendors, consultants and partners deliver in line with agreed contracts, Statements of Work and quality expectations.
- Team Leadership & Capability Building
- Create and sustain a strong, collaborative team environment across the Programme, promoting consistency, shared standards, mutual support and adherence to the MRSG change framework.
- Provide coaching, mentoring and leadership to Project Managers, building capability, confidence and delivery maturity.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement across the programme team.
- Change, Growth & Transformation
- Translate strategy into practical, deliverable outcomes, ensuring the required people, process, technology and data capabilities are in place.
- Support and coordinate key conversations with local regulators and internal risk and compliance teams to secure approvals and ensure ongoing compliance.
Knowledge and Skills
- Experience working across Global Change and Transformation
- Experience working with Insurance Markets across Europe, UK and Lloyd’s
- Experience working at Director Level or equivalent, overseeing large scale change programmes and accountable for budgets spanning multiple locations.
- Bi‑lingual – English (compulsory) and then any one of the following languages: Spanish, Italian or German
- University Degree, relevant professional qualification or demonstratable industry experience is required
