Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Strategic Relationship & Operations functions to develop a national plan for agreement with Head of UK Underwriting.
  • Communicate agreed plan to all relevant teams, monitor progress and challenge any areas of underperformance.
  • Work within delegated authority levels set and agree the underwriting strategy and underwriting appetite with the Head of UK Underwriting, deal with referrals and technical issues internally and externally.
  • Provide direction and technical input into maintaining a market leading proposition for Cyber.
  • Make effective on-site decisions, within delegated authority, for allocated intermediaries so that work is completed efficiently.
  • Work with Strategic Relationship function to support relationship building with intermediaries.
  • Support the Strategic Relationship function with Broker Market Management and any technical assistance they require on Broker deals, schemes, tender processes, etc.
  • Monitor and analyse relevant Management Information and Key Performance Indicators on product performance.
  • Develop appropriate technical skills in teams and individuals to meet the changing needs of Munich Re Specialty Global Markets UK’s trading decisions.
  • Build and maintain strong internal relationships with Senior Management colleagues, Operations, Commercial and Technical functions, centralised resources and the Syndicate, other MRSG International Distribution Companies and other MR Group companies.
  • Develop underwriting response and solutions to social, economic and market developments.
  • Provide reports and other Management Information to the Head of UK Underwriting or MRSI (UK) Exco as and when required.
  • Assist the Head of UK Underwriting on the Reserving Processes and strategy in conjunction with Munich Re Syndicate Limited (MRSL).
  • Assist the Head of UK Underwriting with the Reinsurance strategy and in conjunction with MRSL.
  • Assist the Head of UK Underwriting on business planning including annual planning performed in conjunction with MRSL.
  • A good knowledge of Munich Re Specialty Global Markets UK & Munich Re Group’s policies & protocols.
  • Undertake other duties as directed within the level of the job function.
  • Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
