About us At Munich Re Specialty – Global Markets (MRS-GM), it is our ambition to become the leading Primary Specialty Insurance provider, underpinned by an effective and adaptable strategy, superior products and industry leaders working in a supportive environment to achieve this. At the heart of our success is a strong culture where people are encouraged to be present, bold and curious, allowing them to achieve their individual goals.
The Head of Communications, MRS-GM and UK Region is accountable for the successful delivery of business marketing, internal and external communications, and media relations for Munich Re Specialty-Global Markets (MRS-GM). Reporting to the Global Chief Marketing Officer, the role translates business priorities into integrated, fit-for-purpose marketing and communications strategies and activity that are clearly prioritized, well-coordinated, and executed with impact in direct support of MRS-GM objectives.
The role positions Communications & Marketing as a strategic, delivery-focused, business-first advisor, partnering closely with MRS-GM leadership to drive growth, protect and enhance reputation, and strengthen employee engagement. As part of Group Communications, the role maintains a strong and active connection to Group Communications centers of excellence, ensuring Group standards, best practices, and global governance frameworks are understood and applied locally.
This enables the team to benefit from global expertise and remain fully compliant with Group norms and expectations. As a senior stakeholder partner, the role builds trusted relationships across the business and steers the annual integrated marketing & communications planning process. This includes translating business strategies into a communication and marketing strategy, including clear priorities and resource plans that enable coordinated execution throughout the year.
In support of One Voice initiatives and the broader Global Specialty Insurance (GSI) agenda, the role coordinates closely with GSI Marketing & Communications leadership and peers to inform and shape the strategy. As Media Spokesperson for the London Insurance Market, the role represents MRS-GM externally, proactively engaging regional and trade media to protect and strengthen the Group’s reputation, visibility, and relevance in the UK market.
The role carries full accountability for people leadership and operational effectiveness, including clear role definition, performance management, coaching, and development. It establishes structured ways of working, strengthens stakeholder relationships, and ensures consistent, high-quality delivery across the team.
The role also holds accountability for staff and non-staff budgets, managing resources in line with the Group Communications Global Functional Leader (GFL) mandate and in close coordination with Finance and the Group Communications Chief of Staff. This includes ensuring transparency, cost discipline, and alignment with approved plans while optimizing resources to support priority outcomes.
In addition to the MRS-GM mandate, the role holds regional responsibility for UK business-agnostic communications, representing approximately 10% of the role’s scope. This includes serving as the UK Regional Communications Lead, participating on the Executive Management Group (EMG), leading communications for leadership messaging, employee updates, and change initiatives, and acting as the regional point of coordination for crisis communications. All crisis and sensitive communications are managed in alignment with Munich headquarters, Group Communications, and established governance frameworks.
