The Governance Specialist will join Munich Re's HR Transformation & Governance Team, contributing to the development, implementation, and oversight of a global HR policy and guideline framework. The role ensures consistent application of agreed standards while enabling necessary regional and local flexibility. This position reports to the Global Head of HR Transformation & Governance (based in Munich) and works closely with transformation and governance colleagues across regions, as well as HR Business Partners, functional HR teams, HR Technology, regional HR teams, and business leaders. The location of this role is flexible within the UK or other EU / Latin America Munich Re locations.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Draft, maintain, and manage globally harmonised HR guidelines and policies, aligned with Munich Re's norm and governance framework (including handbooks).
- Ensure policies are clear, practical, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.
- Manage and implement dispensations for approved regional or local deviations driven by regulatory or legal requirements.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and governance checks to ensure adherence to standards and mitigate risk.
- Design and deliver governance-related training for HR teams, including policy compliance and regulatory topics.
- Support internal and external audits and regulatory inquiries by providing data, documentation, and insights.
- Partner with regional HR teams to address local legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with functional HR teams to ensure policies, procedures, and documentation are maintained effectively and consistently.
Your Profile
- Demonstrated experience in governance, norms management, or policy and guideline development, ideally within a global or matrix organisation.
- Exposure to or experience with HR governance, compliance, or regulatory frameworks is an advantage.
- Strong project management capability, including experience coordinating working groups or cross-functional initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across regions, cultures, and functions.
- Good understanding of cultural and regional considerations that influence governance and policy implementation in multinational environments.
- Fluency in English; additional language skills (e.g. Spanish) are an advantage.
