Reporting to: Head of Transformation

Job Purpose: To provide structured analysis, requirements definition, and end-to-end delivery support across all transformation workstreams underpinning Ambition 2030. The Business Analyst will operate within a small, highly collaborative team, interfacing with business stakeholders, IT and external clients to translate business strategy into executable changes covering process, technology, data, and operating model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Discovery & Analysis: Lead and facilitate discovery sessions, stakeholder interviews, workshops and value-stream mapping to understand current state (As Is) and define future state (To Be). Document business problems, opportunities, and success criteria; validate problem statements and benefits hypotheses. Perform gap analysis, impact assessments, and option evaluations.
  • Requirements & Design: Elicit, analyse, and prioritise business, functional and non-functional requirements using industry-standard techniques (user stories, use cases, process maps, data models). Challenge business stakeholders to think about the wider picture, removing silo focus. Maintain traceability from business outcomes to epics/features/stories and acceptance criteria. Support solution design with IT, architecture and external clients ensuring alignment to enterprise standards, information security, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FCA Consumer Duty for insurance-adjacent services, data protection/UK GDPR).
  • Workstream Enablement: Act as the BA lead across multiple concurrent workstreams. Coordinate dependencies and cross-workstream integration points (process, data, controls). Prepare and maintain workstream plans, RAID logs, and decision records in collaboration with PMs.
  • Delivery & Change Readiness: Support project and UAT planning; draft test scenarios aligned to acceptance criteria. Conduct business readiness assessments; define cutover requirements and training needs. Prepare change artefacts (playbooks, SOPs, quick reference guides) and contribute to communications.
  • Governance, Risk & Compliance: Ensure adherence to governance as defined by Head of Transformation and in alignment with HSB & Munich Re. Particular focus and attention on requirements walk-throughs and adoption of formal sign-off processes. Identify and manage BA-level risks, issues, and assumptions; elevate appropriately. Embed regulatory, quality, and data protection requirements into processes and controls (e.g., complaints handling, fair value assessments, records retention, data accuracy).
  • Stakeholder Management: Build trusted relationships across the business functions. Provide clear, concise updates tailored to different audiences, including the Head of Transformation and steering forums. Facilitate conflict resolution and decision-making with evidence-based recommendations.

Skills & Experience

  • Essential: 4-7 years' experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, insurance, building warranty, construction assurance, or adjacent regulated environments. Demonstrable success in multi-workstream transformation initiatives (process + technology). Proficiency in BA toolkits: UML/use cases, user stories/acceptance criteria, data modelling, and journey mapping. Strong documentation capability (BRDs, FRDs, NFRs, traceability matrices, RACI, RAID). Hands-on with collaboration tools (e.g., Azure DevOps/Jira, Confluence, Miro, Visio, Power BI).
  • Desirable: Building warranty or structural defect insurance domain expertise (policy lifecycle, technical inspections, risk scoring, claims handling). Exposure to customer/broker portals, digital onboarding/KYC, telematics/IoT, geospatial or site audit tools. Experience aligning solutions to Consumer Duty, fair value assessments, and conduct risk frameworks. Data literacy (SQL basics, API contracts, data quality controls); BI/reporting familiarity.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or related). Professional BA certifications (e.g., BCS/ISEB Business Analysis, IIBA CCBA/CBAP) (desirable).

Personal Attributes: Curious, detail-oriented, and pragmatic - able to balance strategic intent with delivery realities. Resilient and adaptable in a fast-moving change environment. High integrity with a strong sense of customer and regulatory duty. Collaborative team player comfortable in a small, multi-disciplinary setting.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: At HSB, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion foster innovation and resilience and enable us to act braver and better. Embracing the power of DEI is at the core of who we are. We recognise diversity can be multi-dimensional, intersectional, and complex, so we want to build a diverse workforce that includes a wide range of racial, ethnic, sexual, and gender identities; economic and geographic backgrounds; physical abilities; ages; life, school, and career experiences; and political, religious, and personal beliefs.
