The Internal Communications Manager plays a key role in shaping a cohesive employee experience. This role reports to the Head of Communications, MRS-GM and UK Region, with strategic direction and prioritization set by the Senior Manager Internal Communications, MRS-GM and UK Region.
This role drives the delivery of impactful internal communication initiatives with senior stakeholders, strengthens corporate culture, and ensures alignment between MRS-GM strategy and Munich Re Specialty and Group strategies. It owns day‑to‑day delivery within the internal communications strategy, coordinating plans, channels and events, and strengthens culture through high‑quality delivery, channel management, and employee‑centric execution.
Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of clear, engaging and audience‑appropriate internal communications for MRS‑GM, translating strategic priorities and guidance into effective messages, campaigns, and employee experiences.
- Support MRS‑GM culture and change initiatives by developing communications that help employees understand business priorities, leadership messages, organisational change and people‑related topics.
- Help improve employee engagement by coordinating messages across stakeholders, reducing duplication, and ensuring communications are timely, relevant, and easy to understand.
- Plan and deliver internal events and townhalls, including virtual, hybrid, and in‑person formats, that connect employees with leaders, reinforce business priorities, and support engagement, culture, and change objectives.
- Partner with Group Communications, Munich Re Specialty, and regional communications colleagues to align messaging, integrate relevant Group campaigns into MRS‑GM (e.g., DE&I, EVP, ESG), share MRS‑GM stories with broader internal audiences, and apply best practices, tools, and standards.
- Build trusted relationships with the MRS‑GM senior leaders, HR, subject matter experts, and business stakeholders to collaborate on communication needs, shape messaging, and deliver high‑quality campaigns and employee experiences.
- Manage MRS‑GM internal communication channels, including intranet content, editorial calendars and event communications, ensuring channels are well‑governed, engaging, current, and aligned to audience needs.
- Track communication and campaign performance using relevant metrics, feedback and channel insights, and use findings to improve reach, engagement, clarity, and effectiveness.
- Ensure internal communications follow relevant standards, governance, and approval processes. Manage editorial planning routines, including the monthly editorial committee, to align content, share insights, and gather feedback.
- Serve as the key internal communications contact for assigned business areas and topics, including Legal, Risk & Compliance, Operations, Claims, and ESG, developing processes that improve coordination, planning, and delivery.
Knowledge And Skills
- Internal communications experience in (re)insurance, financial services, or other relevant fields with proven delivery of campaigns, channel management and employee engagement initiatives.

- Technical skill basic knowledge – social media image formats, web language, internet/intranet maintenance skills, use of multimedia tools and technologies including Teams/Teams Townhalls.
