Mumsnet is the UK's largest network for parents, with a thriving community of millions who come together to share advice, spark conversation, and navigate the realities of family life. Our forums are where culture happens first – from viral parenting moments to honest product reviews and the conversations brands want to be part of. We're a small, sharp team that punches well above its weight. If you're looking for a role where you can make a genuine impact from day one, this is it.
Requirements
We're looking for a Marketing Assistant who's equal parts curious and commercial. This isn't a pure social media role – it's a generalist position for someone smart and adaptable who can spot what's resonating in our community and turn that into value, whether that's growing our audience or unlocking opportunities for clients. You'll sit at the intersection of audience insight and commercial opportunity. One day you might be packaging a trending Mumsnet thread into social content that brings in new users; the next, you could be pulling together audience data for a client pitch or presenting partnership ideas to a brand. We need someone who genuinely loves people, gets what makes content tick, and has the confidence to step up when it counts.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor Mumsnet discussions to identify trending topics, emerging conversations, and content with commercial or audience‑growth potential.
- Create engaging social media content that translates the best of Mumsnet's community into formats that attract and retain new users.
- Package rising audience trends and thread insights into compelling narratives for commercial clients and partners.
- Support the development and delivery of client‑facing presentations and partnership pitches.
- Contribute to marketing campaigns across channels – from email to social to on‑site.
- Track and report on content performance, social metrics, and audience growth to inform strategy.
- Collaborate with editorial, product, and commercial teams to align marketing activity with wider business goals.
What We're Looking For
- 1-3 years' experience in a marketing, content, or social media role.
- Strong commercial instincts – you can see the opportunity in a conversation and know how to act on it.
- Confident communicator who's comfortable presenting to clients or internal stakeholders when needed.
- A nose for trends and a genuine curiosity about people, culture, and what makes content shareable.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills – you can adapt your tone for different audiences and channels.
- Organised and self‑motivated, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Comfortable working with data to back up your ideas and demonstrate impact.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with online communities or in a publisher/media environment.
- Familiarity with social media management and analytics tools.
- An understanding of the Mumsnet audience and what makes our community unique.
- Experience supporting commercial or partnerships teams.
Benefits
We focus on steady, sustainable growth, putting purpose (to make parents' lives easier) before profit. We expect great performance, agility and collaboration in every role; cross‑team working with talented, clever people is the best part of life at Mumsnet. Most importantly, we’re looking for candidates with a growth mindset – we know everyone makes mistakes, but the important thing is to learn from them and share your learnings.
We embraced flexible and home working a long time before COVID, and we care much more about outputs than hours on the clock. We don't only want to hire the best people – we want to retain them. If you need some flexibility, let us know and we’ll do our best.
We’re committed to diversity and equality and we think we’re second to none in the all‑round support we offer to parents and carers at work. Working for Mumsnet means never having to pretend you don’t have a family or other commitments, and we promise never to keep you away from a school appointment.
Working Environment: Hybrid: 2 days/week at our Kentish Town office (although it's possible to do more office days if it suits you).
- Buy More Holiday Scheme – Sometimes 25 days just isn’t enough. If you need extra time to chase the sun, extend a trip, or just enjoy more lazy mornings, you can buy extra holiday days to make it happen.
- Cycle2Work Scheme – Our Cycle2Work scheme helps you save money on a new bike, so you can pedal your way to work (or just around the park).
