Overview
In this pivotal role, you will be the chief architect of the pedagogical soul of our AI‑powered learning content generation system. You will bridge the gap between cutting‑edge learning science and artificial intelligence, designing the rules, frameworks, and logic that will enable our AI to create world‑class, effective learning experiences at scale. Your work will ensure our educational content and learning experiences are engaging and built upon proven pedagogical principles, constructivist theory, and our unique problem‑first, hands‑on approach.
What You’ll Do
- Architect AI Learning Frameworks: Design, develop, and document a comprehensive set of rules and principles for our AI to follow when generating learning content.
- Embed Pedagogical Excellence: Translate established learning pedagogy, andragogy, and cognitive best practices into a clear, logical, and machine‑readable rule set.
- Champion Hands‑On Learning: Codify our problem‑first, hands‑on instructional sequencing into the AI’s core logic, ensuring all generated content aligns with our active learning philosophy.
- Navigate Regulatory Landscapes: Integrate the complex regulatory requirements of the UK apprenticeship levy (and others as we expand) into the learning design rules.
- Collaborate with AI Teams: Partner closely with AI developers and engineers to ensure your pedagogical frameworks are accurately interpreted and implemented within the AI models.
- Empower Content Experts: Work in a close, collaborative partnership with programme and instructional designers and subject matter experts to enable them to leverage the frameworks you build.
- Iterate and Innovate: Continuously evaluate the quality of AI‑generated content, refining and iterating upon the learning rules for constant improvement and innovation.
- Stay at the Forefront: Remain current on emerging trends and research at the intersection of learning science, adult education, and artificial intelligence.
What You’ll Bring
- Substantial and demonstrable experience in pedagogical design, learning architecture, or senior instructional design roles focused on adult learners and work‑based learning.
- A deep understanding and practical application of learning theories, particularly constructivism, and experience designing learning frameworks that prioritise problem‑based or hands‑on activities.
- Proven experience developing and implementing scalable learning frameworks or systems used by instructional designers or content creators.
- Familiarity with the UK apprenticeship levy and its regulatory requirements (highly desirable).
- Solid understanding of how Large Language Models (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT) work and their use in content‑creation workflows.
- While direct experience writing rules for AI is a plus, we are equally interested in candidates who have created highly structured, rule‑based learning frameworks for human designers.
- Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and systems‑thinking skills to deconstruct complex pedagogical concepts into precise rules.
- Outstanding communication and collaboration skills to act as the bridge between academic theory and technical implementation.
- A passion for the future of education and a belief in the power of technology to revolutionise how people learn and develop new skills.
Benefits
- 27 days holiday plus 5 additional days: 1 life event day, 2 volunteer days, 2 company‑wide wellbeing days (M‑Powered Weekend) and 8 bank holidays per year.
- Health & Wellness: private medical insurance with Bupa, medical cashback scheme, life insurance, gym membership & wellness resources through Wellhub, and comprehensive mental health support through Spill.
- Hybrid work offering: collaborate in the office 3 days per week.
- Work‑from‑anywhere scheme: up to 10 days per year.
- Team fun: weekly socials, company‑wide events and office snacks.
