Senior AI Engineer - AI Transformation

The AI Transformation team exists to make that real, starting with Multiverse itself. This is not a team that bolts AI onto the edges of the business or ships a handful of internal productivity tools. The mandate is bigger: to rebuild how the company actually works, function by function, and to establish the practices that make Multiverse an AI-first company from the core out.

You are not just changing one company, you are building the blueprint others will follow. The team is one small, focused squad, accountable for outcomes end to end. You work closely with the wider engineering org building Multiverse's customer-facing product, and alongside the teams whose work you are helping to reinvent.

What You Will Do:

• Own and deliver complete agent systems, responsible for architecture, implementation, evaluation, and production operation.
• Design context and retrieval strategies, including retrieval pipelines, conversation memory, summarisation strategies, and chunking logic.
• Build evaluation frameworks to define and implement metrics for AI systems.
• Design tool integrations, ensuring agents can interact reliably with external systems.
• Influence technical direction through evidence-based opinions and architectural decisions.
• Raise the bar through code review and pairing, setting standards for production-quality AI engineering.
• Use Claude Code as your primary development workflow, mentoring others in AI-assisted development.

What We Are Looking For:

• Experience in Production AI Agent Engineering, having shipped AI systems that serve real users at meaningful scale.
• Understanding of context management, model selection, cost engineering, tool use, and evaluation.
• Product thinking, with the instinct to identify problems and build solutions without waiting for a spec.
• Full-stack delivery capability across LLM integration, backend services, data pipelines, and frontend.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical decisions clearly to both engineers and product/design teams.

What Would Set You Apart:

• Experience building AI systems in EdTech or regulated content.
• Background as a founding or early-stage engineer at a startup.
• Published contributions in AI engineering.
• Experience with multi-agent coordination.

• Pure ML researchers without production engineering experience.
• Narrow specialists who only focus on one area.
• Engineers who need detailed specs before starting work.
• Candidates whose AI experience stops at wrapping LLM APIs.
