Role involves working within the Testing team to carry out electrical inspection and testing activities to ensure compliance with current regulations and statutory requirements across regional sites. Activities include initial site inspection at project start, followed by periodic testing at three monthly intervals. Follow internal reporting procedures and address substandard installations with the line manager and relevant regional contracts manager. During inspections you may carry out minor remedial works to ensure safe operation, especially where damage affects exposed conductive parts, earthing, and mains protective arrangements. Making safe and decommissioning building circuits or other alterations and providing appropriate isolation certificates. On occasion, assist the electrical team with installation as required. Diligence, attention to detail and strong communication with the department and clients are required, along with a high standard of electrical knowledge and workmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out both initial and periodic electrical inspections across various sites.
  • Complete minor installation repairs during inspection visits, particularly related to earthing and mains protective arrangements.
  • Assist with installation and emergency call outs as required.
  • Perform safe isolation and issue certificates prior to disconnection and/or demolition works.
  • Carry out fault finding.
  • Address safety concerns with your line manager and implement remedial actions to prevent re-occurrence.
  • Maintain effective contact with your line manager to coordinate activities.
  • Look after the Company’s plant, materials, tools and equipment on site, reporting deficiencies and losses.
  • Ensure works on site are carried out safely at all times, actively minimising health and safety risks.
  • Determine if future works on site are required during visits and relay details to your supervisor.
  • Represent the company professionally and liaise with clients to meet their requirements.

Administration

  • Accurately record site information and test results using the relevant certificate type on electronic software to ensure NIC/EIC documentation is complete.
  • Ensure all site reports, vouchers and site instructions are completed and signed.
  • Ensure paperwork is completed and forwarded to the line manager within required deadlines.
  • Prepare, verify and sign off building isolation certificates.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • ECS Gold Card
  • NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations
  • 2391 Testing & Inspecting
  • 18th Edition Regulations
  • Extensive experience as a Qualified Electrician
  • Site experience
  • Temporary electrics experience

Preferred

  • Experience of electronic certification software
  • Experience as an NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor
