South Yorkshire (Will be required to cover South and West Yorkshire)

Salary: £37,050 per annum + On-Call payment of £1950 per annum 1 in 4 weeks (£150 per week standby)

Overtime after 37.5 Hours paid at time and a half.

Multitask Personnel are looking for a Fire Alarm Engineer to join the Facilities Management division with a leading building services contractor.

What You’ll Be Doing as a Fire Alarm Engineer:

  • Install, commission, test, and maintain fire detection and alarm systems to BS 5839 standards.
  • Diagnose and repair system faults quickly and efficiently.
  • Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and compliance checks.
  • Complete accurate service reports, certificates, and electronic logs.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to clients on compliance and system operation.
  • Respond to reactive call-outs and participate in the on-call rota.
  • Prepare quotes for installation and repair works, detailing materials and labour.
  • Ensure company vehicles are stocked, tools maintained, and health & safety protocols followed.
  • Build strong relationships through professional communication and top-tier service.

Certification and Experience needed:

  • Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Technician/Engineer.
  • BS 5839-1 Level 3 qualification (minimum).
  • FIA, BAFE, or equivalent industry-recognised certifications.
  • Strong working knowledge of systems from Advanced, Kentec, Gent, Hochiki, Apollo, etc.
  • Good understanding of UK fire safety regulations and British Standards.
  • Competent in the use of test equipment and interpreting wiring diagrams.
  • Full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Self-motivated, customer-focused, and able to work independently.
  • ECS/CSCS card.
  • Experience with emergency lighting and other life safety systems.
  • CAFM system knowledge.
