We are recruiting for an ambitious and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join a rapidly growing renewable and electrical wholesale business. This is an exciting opportunity for a strong field sales professional with experience in the electrical wholesale sector, ideally with exposure to solar or renewable products. The role is heavily focused on new business generation in Scotland and the Borders, so we are looking for someone who enjoys being out in the field, building relationships and winning new accounts.
The Role
As Business Development Manager, you will take ownership of developing new business opportunities throughout Scotland/Borders. You’ll be responsible for identifying and securing new customers within the solar installation and electrical contractor market, promoting the company’s products and services while building a strong and sustainable customer base. This is a hands-on field sales role involving regular customer visits, cold calling, account development and attendance at trade shows and industry events.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and develop new B2B business opportunities across Scotland/Borders
- Proactively target electrical contractors, solar installers and trade customers
- Generate new business through cold calling, canvassing and face-to-face meetings
- Open new trading accounts and convert leads into long-term customers
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships
- Manage and grow your own sales pipeline
- Achieve and exceed sales targets and KPIs
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure excellent customer service
- Attend industry events, exhibitions and trade shows
About You
- Proven experience within Electrical Wholesale field sales or business development
- Solar or renewables experience would be highly advantageous
- Strong and stable work history
- Confident generating new business and developing accounts
- Comfortable with cold calling and face-to-face customer engagement
- Self-motivated, target-driven and organised
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Able to work independently and manage your own territory
- Full UK driving licence required
