We are seeking a skilled and dedicated HGV Mechanic to join our Client's maintenance team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), ensuring they operate safely and efficiently.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems.
The ideal applicant will possess a proactive approach to maintenance, safety awareness, and excellent problem-solving skills to minimise vehicle downtime and optimise fleet performance.
As an Mechanic, you will assist in keeping commitment to safety by taking responsibility for the repair and maintenance of the fleet.
This will include completing day to day inspections, maintenance, diagnostics and organising and planning maintenance on trucks and trailers.
Working hours are 3pm start Monday-Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day maintenance of assets
- Preventative maintenance β such as inspections, tyre rotation, oil changes
- Carry out fault diagnosis on electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Perform minor and major repairs of vehicles & trailers
- Monitoring inventory
- Sourcing parts
- Work in line with Health & Safety and safe working practices
- Vehicle inspections, servicing, and MOT preparation
- Complete all relevant paperwork and documentation
- Perform any other duties as reasonably requested
Skills
- IRTEC Qualification and previous experience required
- NVQ Level 3 qualification or equivalent required
- Strong HGV, van, and trailer knowledge
- Full driving licence
- C+E Entitlement on licence
- Ability and desire to solve mechanical problems
- Excellent work ethic
- Proactive approach to the operation
