Job Title: 3.5 Tonne Driver / Loader Location: Hayedown Depot Positions Available: 3 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Working Hours: Shift pattern including weekends and early starts (rota-based) Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Job Purpose: To carry out the safe and efficient collection of waste and recycling materials from domestic and commercial properties using a 3.5 tonne vehicle. This is a dual-role position involving both driving and manual loading duties as part of a frontline waste and recycling collection service. Key Responsibilities: Drive a 3.5 tonne vehicle in accordance with road traffic legislation and company policies. Load and unload waste and recycling materials manually, ensuring correct handling procedures. Work as part of a small collection crew, following set routes and schedules. Complete daily vehicle checks and report any faults or defects. Maintain accurate paperwork or use handheld devices to record collections. Follow all health and safety procedures and wear appropriate PPE at all times. Interact respectfully and professionally with members of the public. Keep the vehicle clean and tidy and ensure it is operated in a safe and responsible manner. Work flexibly across different collection routes as required. Support weekend operations as part of a rota-based shift pattern. Essential Requirements: Full UK driving licence (Category B – up to 3.5 tonnes). Physically fit and able to carry out manual loading tasks over the course of a full shift. Willingness to work weekends and flexible hours as part of a shift pattern. Good understanding of health and safety practices. Reliable, punctual, and a strong team player. Desirable: Previous experience in waste collection, recycling, or similar outdoor manual work.
