Who we're looking for
We are currently recruiting for a Semi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer. The role will be based at Peterborough City Hospital, which is now regarded as the City's most significant building project since the cathedral was built in 1238. The healthcare campus features a 612‑bed, 22‑theatre Major Acute Hospital; a 98‑bed Mental Health Unit; a 39‑bed City Care Centre; a multi‑storey car park; helicopter pad; hard and soft landscaping and highway works.
The role involves supporting the maintenance of a broad range of building services and systems across Peterborough City Hospital, including electrical, mechanical, fabric, BMS, nurse call, fire alarms, boilers, pressure systems, water‑based systems, and other specialist systems. Working as part of a multi‑skilled maintenance team, you will assist with planned and reactive maintenance, help diagnose faults, and contribute to the safe and continuous operation of hospital systems. You will work flexibly across different engineering disciplines, supporting cooperation within the team and liaising with hospital departments where required. The role also involves following management systems and work order processes to help ensure all contractual KPIs are met, as well as working alongside contractors, supporting permits to work, and maintaining high standards of safety and compliance. A proactive and flexible approach is essential, with a willingness to support the wider team and contribute to the smooth running of a complex and critical healthcare environment.
