We are looking for an enthusiastic engineer to join the team at Multimatic Vehicle Dynamics UK (MVDUK). In this role you will learn how to work with our internal and external customers on the following:

  • Vehicle Simulation: Work utilising internal vehicle models along with developing vehicle system simulations utilising knowledge in control theory.
  • Vehicle Testing: Assisting in conducting internal and external customer vehicle testing. This includes vehicle sensor instrumentation and electrical wiring. Participating in customer vehicle analysis whilst present on the rigs at our facility.

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects including motorsport, ongoing R&D and automotive OEM work. Maintaining and developing new system and vehicle models and deploying them into simulation tools. Using initiative and creativity whilst using existing system and vehicle models to support vehicle design and optimise setup and control system calibrations. Providing concise reports conveying key information and findings.

Support vehicle testing activities in the vehicle dynamics centre (VDC) including:

  • Multi-Post Kinematic and Compliance
  • Driver in the Loop Simulator
  • Vehicle Torsional Testing
  • Vehicle Beam Bending

Assisting with vehicle sensor instrumentation and data analysis during vehicle testing activities. Communicating and collaborating effectively with other Multimatic departments to provide them with objective, analysis-based direction and solutions. Contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the vehicle dynamics centre department.

This role would suit a fresh graduate or degree qualified engineer at the start of their career. You must have completed your degree in Maths, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Motorsport Engineering or Automotive Engineering. (Other relevant disciplines may be considered).

Additional beneficial experience would include:

  • Exposure to vehicle simulation software (e.g. VI-Grade Car RealTime, IPG CarMaker, or similar).
  • Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink or similar coding and simulation tools.
  • A foundation of engineering fundamentals in mathematics, kinematics and dynamics.
