Proven experience as a CNC Setter/Operator (Turning) in a production environment (ideally 5+ years). This role is to support our weekend day shift - Thursday to Sunday.
Ability to set and operate CNC turning centres, including tooling selection, offsets, work holding, and safe prove-out of jobs.
Experience working with CNC controls such as Fanuc and/or Siemens and/or Mitsubishi (DMG MORI).
Good understanding of multi-axis turning and the ability to run parts to drawing/specification.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and basic GD&T.
Competent using inspection equipment to complete first-off and in-process checks (e.g., verniers, micrometres, bore gauges); recording results as required.
Basic fault-finding skills: respond to alarms, troubleshoot machining/quality issues, and escalate appropriately to keep production running.
Strong attention to detail, timekeeping, and ability to work independently on nights (Thurs-Sun, 11.5-hour shift).
Commitment to health & safety: safe machine operation, correct PPE, and tidy/organised workstation (5S).
Desirable:
- Experience with DMG MORI, Citizen and Fanuc based turning centres and/or live tooling.
- Experience making minor program edits at the machine and supporting continuous improvement (cycle time, scrap reduction).
- Ability to work from route cards, SOPs, and control plans; familiarity with basic SPC.
- Experience with a range of materials (e.g., steels, aluminium, stainless) and an understanding of cutting data.
