This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or trainee with a background in construction, project management, or quantity surveying who’s eager to develop a long-term career within the steel industry.
The Role
Working alongside senior managers, you’ll assist in all aspects of contract and project management — from tender through to completion. You’ll gain hands-on experience managing live projects and develop the skills required to progress into a full Contracts Manager role.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the preparation of tender enquiries and project documentation.
- Attend pre-contract, design, and project meetings with senior colleagues.
- Assist in day-to-day project management, including subcontractors, on-site teams, and logistics.
- Help manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
- Keep project contracts up to date and assist with monthly financial reporting.
- Prepare and maintain detailed proposals, cost databases, and estimate logs.
- Provide project support to the team during busy periods, holidays, or absences.
About You
- Degree or relevant qualification in Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Previous experience (placement or trainee level) within construction or steelwork is advantageous.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Organised, proactive, and keen to learn within a fast-paced environment.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Projects.
- A collaborative team player who can also work independently when required.
