For nearly 25 years, we’ve delivered exceptional steel fabrication and sheet metal solutions across multiple sectors. We’re now looking for an Assistant / Graduate Contracts Manager to join our experienced commercial team in Peterborough. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate or trainee with a background in construction, project management, or quantity surveying who’s eager to develop a long-term career within the steel industry.

The Role

Working alongside senior managers, you’ll assist in all aspects of contract and project management — from tender through to completion. You’ll gain hands‑on experience managing live projects and develop the skills required to progress into a full Contracts Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of tender enquiries and project documentation.
  • Attend pre-contract, design, and project meetings with senior colleagues.
  • Assist in day-to-day project management, including subcontractors, on‑site teams, and logistics.
  • Help manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Keep project contracts up to date and assist with monthly financial reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed proposals, cost databases, and estimate logs.
  • Provide project support to the team during busy periods, holidays, or absences.

About You

  • Degree or relevant qualification in Construction, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Previous experience (placement or trainee level) within construction or steelwork is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
  • Organised, proactive, and keen to learn within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel, Word, and MS Projects.
  • A collaborative team player who can also work independently when required.
