MSC is seeking to employ experienced and committed Support Workers (SW) to work in our Multicultural Disability Services Program (MDSP):
What you’ll be doing:
- Providing in-home support including preparation of meals, cleaning, personal care, and more;
- Assisting with participating in community activities/events of their interests;
- Ensuring that the consumer’s dreams, goals, and abilities are promoted, developed, and achieved;
- Providing safe transport support to enable service users to access community and social activities;
- Facilitating the development and maintenance of relationships with family, friends, and service providers;
- Providing mentoring support.
We are looking for people that:
- Can build a positive supportive relationship with the consumer;
- Are committed to a person-centred approach in their work;
- Are passionate about supporting people;
- Can speak multiple languages with a current need for Bosnian/Serbian, Karen/Burmese, Vietnamese, and Auslan.
Things that matter to us:
- Certificate in individualised support (highly desirable);
- Previous experience working in the disability sector (highly desirable);
- Ability to engage and work from a respective framework for people/families supported;
- An understanding and/or experience of the needs of people from CaLD backgrounds;
- Valid WA driver’s license and a reliable private vehicle;
- Hold COVID-19 vaccination certificate;
- Hold or be prepared to obtain an NDIS check;
- Ability to work independently and show initiative.
