We are a dynamic and innovative company specializing in handbags and small leather goods across a few license brands. With a focus on feminine, commercial aesthetics and impeccable craftsmanship, we are looking for a passionate and talented Designer or Junior Designer to join our team.
Role Overview:
The Designer will assist in creating beautifully designed handbags and small leather goods that reflect our brands ethos. Working closely with the Creative Director, you will contribute to the full design lifecycle, from concept development to technical execution, working daily with our own factory in India. This is a unique opportunity to grow your career in a fast-paced, and creative environment, working closely with management to gain knowledge and experience quickly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Development: Create innovative and trend-forward designs for handbags and small leather goods using CAD software.
- Technical Design: Work on detailed technical drawings, ensuring accuracy in construction, proportions, and functionality.
- Trend Research: Monitor global fashion trends and emerging styles to inform design concepts and maintain the market relevance.
- Material Selection: Collaborate with the team to select premium materials, finishes, and hardware suitable for each product’s design and positioning.
- Software Proficiency: Utilise Photoshop and Illustrator to produce mood boards, color palettes, sketches, and design visuals.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the product development and production teams based in India to ensure designs are executed to the highest standards.
- Quality Focus: Ensure all designs reflect a high level of detail, craftsmanship, and follow the different brands aesthetics.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum 2 year of experience in a similar full-time design role within handbags and accessories.
- Education: A university degree in Fashion Design, Accessory Design.
- Software Expertise: Proficient in CAD design, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent eye for detail with a strong understanding of bag construction and technical proportions.
- Aesthetic Sensibility: A refined and commercial taste level with a natural ability to design within a brands handwriting.
- Trend Awareness: Keen ability to spot and interpret fashion trends and translate them into commercially viable designs.
- Adaptability: A collaborative and team-oriented mindset with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Location: Willing and able to travel to Welham Green, a 27-minute train journey from Finsbury Park.
