We are recruiting for a Response Technician on behalf of our client, a leading environmental response and specialist industrial services provider based in Braintree. This is a frontline emergency response role, attending incidents such as oil spills, chemical spills, hazardous waste removal and environmental emergencies. The successful candidate will often be first on-site, so we are looking for someone who can remain calm under pressure, work safely in challenging environments and always represent the business professionally. The role involves carrying out safe response activities, maintaining vehicles and equipment readiness, and ensuring all work is completed in line with strict HSE and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend emergency response incidents including oil spills, chemical spills and environmental emergencies
- Support with hazardous waste removal and site response activities
- Safely operate plant, equipment and spill response tools
- Maintain vehicles, equipment and site readiness
- Follow strict health, safety and environmental procedures
- Work effectively in hazardous and high-pressure environments
- Communicate professionally with site teams, supervisors and clients
- Report to the Site Team Leader / Operations Manager
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota on a 2-weekly rota basis
- Travel and work away at short notice when required
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Emergency or incident response mindset
- Hands-on operational experience with plant, equipment or spill response
- Strong HSE awareness and compliance discipline
- Ability to work under pressure
- Confidence working in hazardous or challenging environments
- Good practical problem-solving skills
- Mechanical aptitude would be desirable
- Flexible approach to travel, call-outs and working away
Requirements:
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to pass a medical check
- Ability to pass a DBS check
- Willingness to travel and work away at short notice
- Availability to work as part of a 24/7 on-call rota
