Multi Trades Recruitment are working on behalf of a Tier 1 main contractor delivering a major infrastructure project on the Net Zero Teesside project.

We are currently seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team and play a key role in the successful delivery of this landmark project, based in the Teeside area.

The Role As Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing contracts, costs, and commercial activities across a complex infrastructure and civil engineering environment.

You will work closely with project teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to maximise value, control costs, manage risk, and ensure successful project outcomes.

This role requires a commercially astute individual with strong NEC contract experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to provide leadership and guidance to less experienced members of the commercial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage NEC contract administration and commercial management activities.
  • Measure, record, and value works in line with contractual requirements and industry standards.
  • Prepare applications for payment, cost reports, data assurance, and final account documentation.
  • Manage project accounting systems, monitor costs, and produce cost/value reconciliations.
  • Review project programmes and ensure commercial activities align with delivery requirements.
  • Lead supplier procurement, supply chain management, contract administration, and value-for-money assessments.
  • Identify, communicate, and manage commercial risks alongside the wider project team.
  • Provide support, mentoring, and professional guidance to developing members of the commercial team.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and project delivery.

About You The successful candidate will have significant experience managing commercial functions within infrastructure, civil engineering, or major construction projects.

Essential requirements

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in NEC contract administration and management.
  • Proven experience managing costs, contracts, and commercial performance.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with project teams.
  • Chartered status or working towards professional membership of the RICS (or equivalent). Desirable experience:
  • Previous leadership or team management experience.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Good understanding of the construction and infrastructure sector.
  • A proactive approach with a strong focus on achievement and delivery.
