Hours of Work: Full time – 37.5 hours Monday – Friday (hybrid working considered)
Role Overview: We are seeking a proactive and commercially focused Assistant Accountant to support the financial performance of our manufacturing site. Working closely with the Site Financial Controller and Plant Leadership Team, you will play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting, insightful analysis, and robust financial control to support operational and strategic decision‑making. This is an excellent opportunity for a driven finance professional looking to develop in a fast-paced, operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts in line with internal policies and controls.
- Assist with internal and external financial reporting requirements.
- Support the preparation, monitoring, and delivery of the site budget.
- Provide timely and meaningful financial analysis to support plant performance.
- Partner with operational managers to understand cost drivers and performance trends.
- Support the Financial Controller with ad‑hoc analysis and reporting.
- Maintain accurate costing of products, inventory, and overheads.
- Support inventory control processes, reconciliations, and physical stock counts.
- Assist with asset accounting and related controls.
- Contribute to forecasting and planning cycles.
- Prepare accruals, prepayments, and journals for month‑end close.
- Review and analyse expense accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Act as a finance business partner to operational teams.
- Promote a customer‑focused, service‑driven finance function.
- Build strong working relationships across the site.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within finance and operations.
- Champion company values and contribute to a high‑performance culture.
- Promote safe working practices within the finance function.
About You:
- Part‑qualified accountant.
- Experience in a manufacturing or operational finance environment (desirable).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Confident communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Proactive mindset with a continuous improvement focus.
