Are you someone who is capable, dependable, personable and willing to get involved?

About Us: Mullocks Ltd are a leading UK auction house, offering online, telephone and in-the-room bidding at a range of regular specialist sales. We cover the entire spectrum of sports memorabilia in our extensive, well-established sales, which have become a focal point for collectors and dealers from all over the world.

We are currently looking for a versatile, practical and proactive person to join our team in a varied Business & Office Support role, based in Telford. This is not a role where you will be doing the same thing every day. Our auction cycle means that the office can be particularly busy around auction days, with quieter periods in between. We are therefore looking for someone who is happy to turn their hand to different tasks and use their time productively across the wider business.

What will the role involve?

  • A key part of the role will be dealing with customers, answering queries and providing assistance both before and after our auctions. This will include general auction enquiries, customer communication and helping customers with their purchases following a sale.
  • The role will also involve assisting with the practical side of the business, which may include:
    • Dealing with customer enquiries by telephone and email
    • Assisting customers with pre- and post-auction queries
    • Organising and arranging the packing and dispatch of auction purchases
    • Sorting incoming items for auction, correctly identifying and marking them with vendor details and putting them away appropriately
    • Assisting with the preparation and organisation of auction lots
    • Taking photographs of auction lots when required
    • General office administration and business support
    • Potentially assisting with social media and other areas of the business during quieter periods

The balance of these duties will naturally vary depending on the auction calendar and the needs of the business. We would particularly welcome someone who has additional skills or interests they could bring to the role. An interest in photography, social media, marketing, administration, customer service or other areas of the business would be a bonus.

About you

  • Flexible and adaptable – comfortable moving between different tasks and priorities
  • A team player – happy to help wherever needed
  • Proactive – someone who uses their initiative rather than waiting to be told what to do
  • Customer-focused – friendly, approachable and professional
  • Computer literate – essential – confident using computers and able to learn new systems
  • Organised and reliable – with a good eye for detail and a strong work ethic
  • Practical and hands-on – happy to get involved with the physical side of an auction business
  • Interested in learning – willing to develop their knowledge of the business and the auction process

The role does involve regular manual handling, including lifting and moving parcels and auction items. Applicants therefore need to be comfortable undertaking these duties safely.

The position is primarily office-based, but we are open to discussing the working pattern with the right candidate, including a four-day working week or job-share arrangement. The exact balance of responsibilities can also be adapted to suit the successful candidate's experience and strengths.

If you are the sort of person who, when the phones are quiet and your usual tasks are done, thinks “What else can I get on with?”, you could be exactly who we are looking for. Apply Now!
