We are looking for an enthusiastic, committed and patient-focused Salaried GP to provide 12-month maternity cover and join our friendly and supportive team at Mullion & Constantine Group Practice. We are an established four-site rural practice, serving our local communities from Mullion, Constantine, Ruan Minor and Lizard. We are proud of the care we provide to our patients and are committed to developing a sustainable and supportive working environment for our clinicians. We value teamwork, continuity of care and making the best use of the skills within our wider multidisciplinary team.
This is a fixed term role for approximately 12 months, starting in January or February 2027 (exact start date to be agreed). The number of sessions and working pattern are flexible and will be agreed with the successful applicant. We are happy to consider newly qualified GPs, experienced GPs, and those looking for portfolio or part-time roles.
The successful applicant will provide a broad range of general medical services to our registered population, working alongside our GP team and wider multidisciplinary workforce. Main duties will include:
- Face to face, telephone and online consultations
- Assessment and management of acute presentations and long-term conditions
- Diagnosis and management of undifferentiated illness
- Safe prescribing and medicines management
- Reviewing and acting on investigation results and clinical correspondence
- Making appropriate referrals and contributing to personalised care planning
- Home visits where clinically required
- A fair contribution to duty doctor arrangements
- Participation in clinical and multidisciplinary meetings
- Maintaining clear, accurate and contemporaneous clinical records
Clinical and administrative responsibilities will be allocated fairly and proportionately according to the number of sessions worked. We are keen to support GPs in developing areas of particular clinical interest and would welcome discussion about how these could be incorporated into the role, recognising the fixed-term nature of the post.
Mullion & Constantine Group Practice is a well-established rural GP practice serving communities across the Lizard Peninsula. Our four-site model allows us to provide care close to our patients while maintaining a strong, collaborative practice team. Our experienced clinical workforce includes:

Our non-clinical team is also integral to how we work. We have an experienced reception and administration team who support patients to access the right clinician or service, and a knowledgeable dispensary team who work closely with our clinical pharmacists and GPs. Our reception, admin and management colleagues are highly engaged, attend regular practice meetings and are central to maintaining safe, efficient systems and a welcoming atmosphere across all four sites.
We are committed to maintaining the strengths of general practice continuity, accessibility, clinical autonomy and knowing our patients while continuing to develop modern and sustainable ways of working. We have a strong commitment to professional development and welcome clinicians who would like to develop special interests or contribute to teaching, training, audit, quality improvement within the maternity cover period.
The successful GP will work as part of our clinical team to provide safe, effective and compassionate care to our registered population. In accordance with the agreed practice timetable, responsibilities will include:
- Providing high quality consultations via face to face, telephone and online appointments
- Assessing and managing patients with acute illness, chronic disease and undifferentiated symptoms
- Making appropriate clinical decisions regarding diagnosis, investigation, treatment and onward referral
- Managing patients with complex and multiple long-term conditions
- Providing preventative care and health promotion as part of routine clinical work
- Prescribing safely and effectively in line with current guidance and local formulary
- Providing continuity of care wherever possible
Working closely with the wider multidisciplinary team, including nurses, HCAs, pharmacists, social prescribers and administrative staff. Participating in practice and clinical meetings. Communicating effectively with patients, relatives, carers and colleagues. Supporting colleagues and contributing to a positive, collaborative working environment. Working flexibly across all four practice sites as required. Seeking advice and support appropriately and recognising professional limitations.
Participating in clinical audit and quality improvement activity. Contributing to significant event reviews and shared learning within the practice. Supporting clinical governance and the development and implementation of practice policies and protocols. Contributing to service development and improvements in patient care. Maintaining professional knowledge and skills through continuing professional development. Participating in appraisal and revalidation.
Maintaining confidentiality and complying with information governance and data protection requirements. Complying with practice policies, including those relating to prescribing, safeguarding, health and safety, and infection prevention and control. Working within GMC guidance and the principles of Good Medical Practice. Maintaining appropriate medical indemnity. Undertaking other reasonable duties consistent with the role of a GP within the practice.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Primary medical degree recognised by the GMC.
- Full GMC registration with a current licence to practise.
- Included on the GMC GP Register.
- Included, or eligible for inclusion, on the NHS England Medical Performers List.
- Appropriate medical indemnity in place.
- Evidence of ongoing CPD and engagement with appraisal revalidation.
Desirable criteria
- MRCGP or equivalent recognised postgraduate qualification.
- Additional postgraduate training relevant to general practice.
- Up to date safeguarding training - children and adults appropriate to the role.
