We are recruiting an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental Manager to support a high-performing food manufacturing site. This role requires someone with proven experience in food production environments who can provide hands-on safety leadership, strong shop floor engagement, and practical HSE expertise.
As the HSE Manager, you will lead all Health, Safety, and Environmental activities across a busy food manufacturing operation. This is a visible, frontline position where you will work closely with production, engineering, hygiene, and technical teams to maintain a safe, compliant, and engaged workplace.
You will focus on day-to-day safety delivery, behavioural engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives that support both legal compliance and operational excellence.
- Lead and coordinate Health, Safety and Environmental activities across the site
- Maintain a strong presence on the factory floor, engaging with operators and shift teams
- Deliver and maintain risk assessments, safe systems of work, and machinery safety checks
- Conduct accident and incident investigations and support root cause analysis
- Ensure compliance with COSHH, PUWER, RIDDOR, and industry-specific safety requirements
- Deliver safety briefings, toolbox talks, and HSE training
- Collaborate with Food Safety, Technical, Engineering, and Operations teams
- Identify trends, analyse safety data, and drive continuous improvement actions
Previous Health & Safety experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG food, or related environment is required, along with practical experience with accident investigation, risk assessments, and day-to-day HSE delivery. An understanding of food manufacturing operations, including hygiene zones, allergens, and fast-moving machinery is essential. A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and an environmental qualification such as AIEMA are preferred.
