About The Role
This apprenticeship is based at our Market Drayton site and is a 4‑year programme that blends technical training, academic study and work‑based learning. You will study toward a recognised qualification, earn a good salary, develop new skills and gain invaluable experience in the dairy manufacturing sector.
Your Key Responsibilities as an Engineering Apprentice:
- Asset management – keep manufacturing machinery maintained, manage processes, and support site cleaning operations.
- Involvement in continuous improvement projects, project management and test/trial activities.
- Fault finding and quick action to meet food safety standards.
- Team participation to achieve the highest quality products.
- Highlighting concerns and ensuring products or volumes meet agreed requirements and targets.
Training Programme
This apprenticeship delivers all the fundamental engineering topics you need to know:
- Electrical principles and maintenance
- Mechanical maintenance to keep the factories running efficiently
- Automation
The programme is delivered in partnership with North West Training Council (NWTC). You’ll spend 20 weeks of your first year with Müller at our state‑of‑the‑art training facility. From years 2‑4 you’ll spend a combined 22 weeks with NWTC, with the remainder of the time spent back at Market Drayton to embed your learning.
Entry Requirements:
- National 5s at band C or above in English & Maths, plus a science/technical subject
- Able to demonstrate a clear passion for engineering
- Ability to take ownership of own work
- Self‑motivated and proactive approach to work and studies
- Flexible with working hours upon completion of the apprenticeship, including weekends and night shifts
Qualifications Gained:
- Level 3 Food & Drink Maintenance Engineer Apprenticeship Certificate
- Level 3 Diploma in Food & Drink Engineering
- Potential to progress onto a Level 6 Engineering Degree
