The role is based at our Skelmersdale location and offers a site-based role with an element of flexibility.

The Role

The Management Accountant will be based on site with some flexibility and will support financial planning, reporting and analysis to enable delivery of financial targets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage month-end and year-end financial processes to ensure accuracy and compliance, inclusive of monthly P&L’s and Balance Sheet.
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations in accordance with group timetables, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Assist in preparing annual budgets and reforecasts, providing insightful variance analysis.
  • Maintenance of the fixed asset register and the associated controls.
  • Completion of accurate bank reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Ensure accounting policies and procedures align with group standards.
  • Provide financial advice and insights to senior management.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.

Key skills & experience

  • Proven experience as a Management Accountant is essential, ideally within an FMCG environment.
  • Qualified/Part Qualified (Final Stages) CIMA/ACCA.
  • Strong understanding of management accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills; Sage 200 experience is advantageous.
  • The ability to interpret complex financial data and communicate findings effectively is critical.
  • A proactive and adaptable approach, with a desire to contribute to continuous improvement.
