We are looking for experienced Milk & Effluent Treatment Plant Technicians to join our Bridgwater site, playing a key role in the safe and efficient operation of our Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). This role is ideally suited to someone with a strong background in water or effluent treatment, combined with a proactive approach to plant performance, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement.
About the Role
You will be responsible for operating and optimising the ETP, ensuring all processes run in line with environmental and regulatory standards. The role combines process operation, monitoring, analysis, and hands‑on support of plant reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and optimise the day‑to‑day running of the Effluent Treatment Plant
- Maintain effluent quality in line with environmental and legal standards
- Analyse process performance data and take action to maintain plant stability
- Support plant reliability through basic asset care and equipment checks
- Investigate process issues and contribute to root cause problem solving
- Maintain accurate operational records and compliance documentation
- Work closely with production, engineering, and external contractors
- Identify and support continuous improvement opportunities
- Escalate risks or abnormalities in a timely and effective manner
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Experience working within water treatment, effluent treatment, or utilities operations
- Strong understanding of process control, monitoring, and environmental compliance
- Ability to analyse data and respond proactively to changes in plant performance
- Good communication skills and ability to work independently
- Flexibility to work a 4 on 4 off (days and nights) shift pattern
Desirable
- Experience of asset care or first‑line maintenance activities
- Background within FMCG, food or drink manufacturing
Alternative Backgrounds Considered
We are also open to candidates who may not yet have asset care experience but bring:
- Laboratory experience (sampling, testing, analysis)
- Basic mechanical or maintenance knowledge
Full training can be provided to develop these skills into an asset care capability.
