We're looking for a highly skilled Unit Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team in Telford. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Multi-Skilled Engineer to work within a fast-paced, highly automated manufacturing environment, supporting production through both planned and reactive maintenance activities.
You'll play a key role in maximising equipment reliability, reducing downtime, driving continuous improvement and ensuring our manufacturing assets operate safely and efficiently.
What you'll be doing:
- Carrying out reactive maintenance to minimise downtime and support production performance
- Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities through our CMMS maintenance system
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical and automation faults
- Maintaining pumps, valves, filling equipment, process systems and fast-moving production machinery
- Ensuring all equipment is safe and fully operational before returning it to service
- Identifying root causes of equipment failures and implementing permanent corrective actions
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability and efficiency
- Working collaboratively with Production and Operational teams to achieve site performance targets
- Maintaining engineering standards that support safety, quality and OEE performance
What we're looking for:
Essential:
- Time-served engineering apprenticeship, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification
- Experience working within a multi-skilled maintenance environment
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills
- Experience maintaining machinery within manufacturing, production, process or FMCG environments
- Knowledge of PLC-controlled equipment and automated production lines
- Experience of preventative maintenance systems and planned maintenance activities
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced operational environment
- Excellent communication and team-working skills
Desirable:
- Food, dairy, beverage or FMCG manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of filling and process technology
- Experience using CMMS maintenance systems
- Continuous improvement experience
