We are currently looking to recruit an Engineering Technician to join our Manchester Dairy within our Muller Milk & Ingredients business. This person will provide safe front line proactive maintenance within our valve servicing department. We’re looking for an individual who is looking to develop their engineering or process knowledge/career within a fast-paced, complex environment. Formal engineering qualifications aren’t essential but basic engineering knowledge and experience is a must.

Key responsibilities:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance to agreed schedules for the following equipment:
    • Process Valves (Wet end and actuators)
    • Workshop overhauls
    • Boilers
    • Cooling Towers
    • Process Plants (Oversee works)
  • To observe, recognise and report on machinery or component defects or symptoms of impending failure.
  • To service, adjust and repair machinery and equipment using the necessary tools in a safe and proper manner.
  • To examine machinery and equipment and report on condition, performance and plan of action for improvements.
  • Take on training to enhance skills.

  • Support improvement activities/events within facilities and engineering owned areas.

  • Ability to deliver on the job training (show and tell) to new colleagues.
  • Health and safety of self and others.

Key skills and experience:

  • Hands on engineering experience - Essential
  • Manufacturing Industry Experience - Essential
  • Recognised apprenticeship is advantageous but not essential.
  • Willingness to learn/take on challenges.
  • Valve servicing experience beneficial.
  • Experience working in a processing environment beneficial.
  • Experience of LOTO procedures beneficial.
