Role Overview: Based at our Head Office in Dromore, Co. Down and reporting to the Transport Planning Manager, you will be responsible for planning all customer collections and deliveries in the most cost-effective and efficient manner, while maximising vehicle utilisation to meet the company’s and customers’ requirements in a safe and well-managed environment. You will work closely within the existing planning teams, providing a detailed and accurate handover at the end of each shift. This is an excellent opportunity to develop and progress your career as part of an established and highly professional traffic team focused on customer service within the Transport and Logistics sector.
Shifts: We have various shifts available to suit your lifestyle:
- Dayshift Mon-Fri (weekend cover 1 Saturday in 4, paid as overtime)
- 40n 4off Dayshift (10hr Shifts)
- 40n 4off Nightshift (10hr shifts)
Key Responsibilities:
- Maximise vehicle utilisation.
- Plan routes to meet customer KPIs and comply with drivers hours legislation.
- Issue drivers with clear instructions.
- Ensure all driver briefings and de-briefs are completed daily.
- Maintain the live Traffic Management System.
- React to changing situations to accommodate additional business, maximise service performance, and reduce delays.
- Monitor vehicle movements to maintain clear and effective control of the fleet.
- Create solutions to meet customers' needs and requirements.
- Manage customer queries and issues, keeping customers informed and updated on changes.
Criteria:
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a hands-on approach.
- Commercially astute with a customer-focused mindset.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
- Strong geographic knowledge of Ireland and the UK.
- Ability to analyse data and make informed operational decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using Transport Management Systems.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 2 years experience in road haulage or transport planning.
- Full UK driving licence.
