The Warehouse Shift Lead is responsible for leading and overseeing the day-to-day warehouse operations during their assigned shift. The role ensures that all logistics activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with company policies, quality standards, and customer requirements. You will lead, coach, and develop a team of warehouse employees, drive performance through effective planning and KPI management, and support continuous improvement across the MEDC logistics operation.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operational Management
    • Plan, coordinate, and supervise all warehouse and logistics activities during the assigned shift.
    • Ensure timely, accurate, and efficient processing of inbound, outbound, and internal warehouse movements.
    • Allocate labour and resources effectively to meet daily operational priorities and service levels.
    • Proactively manage changing priorities, reallocating resources as required to meet service demands.
    • Identify and resolve operational issues, escalating where appropriate.
    • Monitor and analyse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to identify areas of improvement and implement corrective actions.
  • Team
    • Lead, motivate, and engage a team of warehouse operatives and coordinators.
    • Provide clear direction, task allocation, and shift priorities.
    • Deliver ongoing coaching, training, and performance feedback.
    • Conduct regular 1-to-1s, performance reviews, and support succession planning.
    • Manage people’s processes fairly and consistently in line with HR policies.
  • Performance & Continuous Improvement
    • Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs).
    • Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement and implement corrective actions.
    • Support and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Inventory & Systems Management
    • Oversee inventory accuracy and stock control.
    • Ensure system transactions are completed accurately and on time.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation and company policies at all times.
  • Culture

Essential

  • Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Strong people leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience using warehouse management systems (Manhattan preferred).
  • Strong numeracy, written, and verbal communication skills.

Desirable

  • Experience in a multi-channel or global distribution environment.
  • Continuous improvement or Lean experience.

Other

  • Flexibility to travel when required.
  • Key holder for the MEDC.
