Principal Accountabilities

  • To provide ingredients and equipment for lessons and projects, including the stocking of classrooms with consumables.
  • To assist teachers and students during food technology lessons.
  • Take charge of a group of students to carry out the practical lesson as directed by food technology staff.
  • Prepare display materials and equipment for parents' evenings, and clear away.
  • Assist with food preparation for whole school events.
  • To keep sinks and worktops, ovens and cupboards etc. clean, keeping stock rooms and equipment clean, tidy and in good order, including cookers.
  • Maintain aprons in a serviceable condition.
  • Under the supervision of the Head of Food Technology maintain stock cupboards by raising orders, receiving equipment and materials and purchasing ingredients for practical lessons.
  • To carry out all washing for the food technology department.
  • To carry out administrative tasks for the department as required.
  • To be responsible for organising the maintenance and repair for any equipment; to be responsible for the annual inventory check for food technology departmental equipment.
  • To be available to assist other members of staff within the department, time allowing.
  • Complete and maintain routine food safety records, including regular monitoring and documentation of fridge/freezer temperatures, ensuring compliance with food safety standards.
  • To carry out the above duties in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education documentation.
